Opening Spring 2026!

At Bright Start, we take seriously our responsibility to promote positive attitudes in the Early Years by celebrating diversity and difference. We do this not only to ensure every child feels included and never disadvantaged, but also to help children learn from the earliest age to value others, embrace a diverse world, and grow into individuals who make a positive contribution to society.

What we are doing to Promote Diversity and Inclusion?

Supportive Stories for Children

We have acquired copies of "My Skin, Your Skin: An Early Introduction to Race and Racism" a powerful book to help children and Early Years Educators have meaningful discussions about race and anti-racism. Most importantly, the book empowers children to be the best versions of themselves; to have self-love, self-esteem and self-worth, irrespective of their skin colour.

This book was specifically written by Early Years expert and children's media creator of the popular JoJo and Gran Gran (CBeebies), Laura Henry-Allain MBE, to support Parents and Early Years Educators to explain what racism is, why it is wrong, and what children can do if they see it or experience it. It also explores how important it is for children to celebrate their achievements and greatness.

Inclusive Celebrations

At Bright Start Nursery, inclusive celebrations are used as rich learning opportunities that help children understand the world around them. We explore a variety of cultural and personal traditions in ways that are developmentally appropriate and meaningful, encouraging children to ask questions, make connections, and appreciate diversity. By involving families and offering optional, open-ended activities, we ensure every celebration supports curiosity, learning, and a strong sense of belonging.
